Kim Anspach
The eXplore Lawrence Board of Directors is pleased to announce Kim Anspach as the new Executive Director of eXplore Lawrence, the organization devoted to improving the local economy by attracting visitors, meetings, conferences, and events to the city. A nationwide search was conducted for the position after the retirement of Michael Davidson.
Anspach has most recently served as Interim Director of eXplore Lawrence since May 2021. She has excelled in office management and community relations roles since joining the organization in 2014. Among Kim’s many accomplishments at eXplore Lawrence so far are:
- Coordination of the initial launch of the Unmistakably Lawrence brand
- Creation and implementation of the Lawrence Tourism Ambassador Program
- Design and relocation of Lawrence Visitors Center to Downtown Lawrence
- Chair of Lawrence Arts Roundtable
“The Explore Lawrence Board has confidence in Kim to lead this organization well into the future. Her vision and ability to understand our industry partners’ needs, the needs of Lawrence as a destination and the industry’s place as an economic driver will serve this community well,” said eXplore Lawrence Board President Mike Logan.
Anspach’s hiring comes as eXplore Lawrence implements a strategic plan to counter the detrimental effect the COVID-19 pandemic has had on the local tourism and hospitality industry.
“My tenure at eXplore Lawrence has been focused on building collaborations to support our tourism industry and help our partners thrive,” Said Anspach. “I am excited and honored to lead eXplore Lawrence as our industry recovers from the pandemic and continues to help drive the economic recovery.”
Kim is an 18-year resident of Lawrence where she resides with her family. She has a Bachelor of Arts in History from Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas. She is a Leadership Lawrence class of 2019 graduate and serves on the Downtown Lawrence Inc. Board.
