The Chamber is pleased to announce that Kathy Gerstner will be joining the staff as its Director of Operations. Gerstner will be responsible for the day-to-day internal operations of The Chamber, including financial management, accounting, and human resources. She will assist Chamber committees and support President & CEO Bonnie Lowe in an advisory capacity for internal operations.
“The Chamber of Lawrence plays a vital role in our community as a proven resource and advocate for our businesses,” Gerstner said. “I am excited to be joining the team and look forward to working with our members to continue to grow, strengthen and lead our dynamic community.”
Gerstner comes to The Chamber from the University of Kansas, where she served as a grant coordinator. Gerstner also served as the executive director of the Baldwin Education Foundation for over a decade. She also was a member of the Baldwin City Council from 2013 to 2018. Gerstner earned a law degree from the University of Kansas and remains a licensed member of both the Kansas and Missouri Bars.
“The stars aligned for The Chamber when it came to bringing Kathy on board,” said Bonnie Lowe, President & CEO of The Chamber. “Her experience for the position is outstanding and her leadership abilities are proven both with her previous jobs and in her role as an elected official in Baldwin City. We are thrilled to have her be a part of the work we do at The Chamber.”
Gerstner will start at The Chamber on Monday, March 1.
