Plastikon Healthcare, a contract manufacturing company, will be the first tenant in the VanTrust building in Lawrence VenturePark. The VanTrust spec building was the first new construction in Lawrence VenturePark and was completed at the end of 2018. Plastikon, which opened its Lawrence location in 2011, will be taking up 22,000 square feet for expanded warehousing. The Lawrence location focuses on medical device and pharmaceutical product manufacturing and recently completed a 50,000 square foot expansion at its location in East Hills Business Park.
“VanTrust was an ideal partner to help meet our ever-growing need for warehouse space while we continue to expand our site in the coming years,” said Kaveh Soofer, Plastikon’s Executive Vice President.
VanTrust utilized the City of Lawrence’s Catalyst program, an assistance package for industrial development. The building sits on just over 13 acres and totals over 153,000 square feet. Plastikon has also utilized the Catalyst program with recent expansions at its current facility in East Hills Business Park. In recent years, Plastikon has added dozens of employees, expanded its footprint and added an injection molding technology suite.
“Plastikon has seen excellent growth at their Lawrence facility over the past few years, growing and adding employees that need high-tech skills,” said Steve Kelly, Vice President of Economic Development for The Chamber of Lawrence. “The Catalyst program has attracted industrial development and investment in the Lawrence community, and it’s great to see both Plastikon and VanTrust utilize the local assistance we have to offer.”
Colliers International agents Kirsten Flory, John Stafford and Tom Haverty brokered the deal.
