The Kansas Department of Commerce has just launched “To the Stars: Celebrating Kansas Businesses” to recognize outstanding businesses and individuals in Kansas.
Previously, June was known as “Business Appreciation Month,” or BAM. After some restructuring of the program during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Department decided to expand the awards with three new categories to reflect the diverse achievements of businesses statewide:
- Business Innovation – recognize innovative businesses around the state.
- Under 30 Entrepreneurs/Businesspeople – recognize young entrepreneurs.
- Welcome Back – recognize entrepreneurs/businesspeople who left Kansas and returned to achieve success in the best state to do business.
There will still be four primary Business Appreciation Award categories: Retail, Service, Manufacturing/Distribution, and Hospital/Non-Profit. The grand prize winner of the Business Appreciation Award will receive the prestigious Governor’s Award of Excellence in October.
The nomination process is open now through the end of the month. You can find more information, including the nomination form, on their website.
