The Chamber leads by removing barriers for expanding business and creating vision toward long-term growth of commerce.

The Chamber is committed to exercising leadership both within the Lawrence community and regionally to foster an environment for sustainable business growth.  This leadership comes in the form of evaluating existing market conditions and developing action-oriented strategies that facilitate a healthy business environment.  Through a clear vision that energizes people to be involved and a proactive culture of active intervention to drive change, The Chamber takes the lead in moving business initiatives forward.

Additionally, The Chamber has a long history of leadership development through its Leadership Lawrence program.   With more than 700 alumni, Leadership Lawrence builds knowledge and skills to increase civic engagement among its participants.

Strategic Leadership Priorities

  • Equip leaders with knowledge and insights needed to meaningfully impact economic, governmental and socio-cultural issues through the Leadership Lawrence curriculum.
  • Establish a network of non-profits and other community volunteer leadership roles to promote volunteerism.
  • Promote Lawrence and Douglas County’s status as one of the best places to live and educate members on what systems and services facilitate this.
  • Serve in a mentoring or resource capacity for individuals seeking higher leadership roles within the community.
