The Chamber proactively meets with city, county, state and national elected officials on a regular basis to discuss and advocate for our members business friendly legislation.

We are focused on three core strategies: Growth, Leadership, Advocacy.

  • Growth: The Chamber is focused on regional economic growth and job creation through business recruitment, retention and expansion.
  • Leadership: The Chamber leads by removing barriers for expanding business and creating vision toward long-term growth of commerce.
  • Advocacy: The Chamber identifies issues that affect regional economic sustainability and mobilizes efforts toward solving those issues through civic engagement and education.

State Legislation

Each year, our team meets with 165 state legislatures in Topeka for our Kansas Capitol Event. Chamber members and business leaders converged on the Capitol to send a message that Lawrence is open for business, encouraging them to continue working to make Kansas a more business-friendly state to retain and grow existing businesses and attract new industry to the region.

Capitol Day

Legislative updates at the state-level are provided to members weekly when the legislature is in session. You may access previous Statehouse Reports here.
